Power Automate Cloud vs. Desktop: two complementary tools
Summary paragraph:
By combining cloud flows and desktop flows, Power Automate covers 90% of the automation needs of an SME using Microsoft 365. The cloud orchestrates flows between your SaaS applications, while the desktop automates tasks on your business software that does not have an API. And when your needs exceed Power Automate (multi-ERP integrations, complex orchestration), IT Systèmes complements it with FlexFlow, our iPaaS platform.
Why deploy Power Automate with IT Systems
- Certified Microsoft expertise: 15 years of experience with the Microsoft ecosystem (M365, Azure, Active Directory, Power Platform). We know your IT system because we already manage it.
- Training included: we don't just set up your flows. We train your teams to create and maintain their own automations. Autonomy guaranteed.
- RPA for software without APIs: thanks to Power Automate Desktop and FlexFlow, we can even automate your legacy business software (Sage, Cegid, internal tools) without replacing it.
- End-to-end support: from identifying use cases to deployment, including testing and post-go-live support. No "here you go, figure it out yourself."
- Quick wins from the first week: we start with the three most profitable flows (validated during the audit). Your teams will see the benefits immediately.
- Security and compliance: each flow complies with your security rules (access rights, encryption, logging). Integrated GDPR and NIS2 compliance.

Power Automate FAQ
Is Power Automate included in Microsoft 365?
Yes. If you have a Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 subscription, your employees can create cloud flows with standard connectors (Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Excel, OneDrive, Forms) at no additional cost. Premium connectors (Salesforce, SAP, Dataverse, SQL Server) require a Power Automate Premium license at $13.30/user/month.
Do you need to know how to code to use Power Automate?
Not for simple flows. The interface is visual (drag and drop) and Microsoft offers hundreds of ready-to-use templates. For advanced flows (nested conditions, loops, API calls), training is recommended. IT Systèmes offers training courses tailored to each level.
Can Power Automate automate software without an API?
Yes, thanks to Power Automate Desktop. It simulates human actions on your Windows workstation: opening applications, entering data, extracting reports, navigating interfaces. It is native Windows RPA, ideal for ERPs and legacy business software (Sage, Cegid, internal tools).
What is the difference between Power Automate Cloud and Desktop?
Cloud automates flows between cloud applications via connectors (emails, files, CRM). Desktop automates tasks on your Windows workstation by simulating clicks and keystrokes. The two combine: a cloud flow can trigger a desktop flow, and vice versa.
How long does it take to deploy Power Automate?
The first quick wins are operational within 1 to 2 weeks. A full deployment with desktop RPA and premium connectors takes 4 to 8 weeks. Team training takes 1 to 2 days.
Is Power Automate secure and GDPR compliant?
Yes. Power Automate inherits the security of the Microsoft platform: encryption of data at rest and in transit, MFA authentication, granular rights management via Azure AD, comprehensive logging. Data remains in your Microsoft 365 tenant. GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIS2 compliance.
What if my needs exceed Power Automate?
For complex integrations (multi-ERP, critical flow orchestration, API management), IT Systèmes complements with FlexFlow, our sovereign iPaaS platform. And for processes that require reasoning and natural language understanding, we deploy custom-built AI agents. Power Automate is the entry point, not the limit.
